“The more we expect of ourselves and one another,
the more we can achieve”
Computing
At Staplehurst School, we follow the Purple Mash curriculum for Computing, ensuring that pupils receive a broad, balanced and progressive computing education. Computing is an essential part of the modern world, providing children with the knowledge, skills and understanding to participate fully in a rapidly changing digital society.
Through Purple Mash, pupils are introduced to the three strands of computing:
• Computer Science – understanding how digital systems work and developing computational thinking.
• Information Technology – applying computing skills purposefully to create digital content and solve real-world problems.
• Digital Literacy – learning how to use technology safely, responsibly and effectively.
Lessons are designed to be interactive, engaging and scaffolded to meet the needs of all learners. Pupils explore coding, data handling, multimedia and communication technologies, whilst also learning about online safety and digital citizenship. By embedding these skills across the curriculum, we ensure that pupils can use technology creatively and confidently to support their learning in all subjects.
Our computing curriculum enables children to leave Staplehurst School as responsible digital citizens who can navigate the online world safely and with integrity, as well as innovative problem-solvers who can apply their knowledge to new technologies in the future.
